Doubletree Guest Suites Naples… The Doubletree Guest Suites Naples is the first Doubletree in the state of Florida to be designated as a Two Palm Green Lodge by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) under Florida’s Green Lodging Program. This unique designation recognizes a commitment by the Doubletree Guest Suites Naples to protect and conserve Florida’s natural resources. The Doubletree Guest Suites Naples became a One Palm designated hotel in January 2008 and has taken additional steps to become a Two Palm designated member of the Florida Green Lodging Program. The Green Lodging Program is progressive, requiring that properties establish One Palm designation before applying for Two Palms. When applying, a property must show a minimum of one year’s data of consistent and ongoing green practices and documentation of increased energy efficiency and water and waste reduction. In achieving Two Palm status, the Doubletree: Increased water conservation measures by adding 0.5 gpm faucet aerators in the hotel’s kitchen and identifying non-native plant species and replacing with drought tolerant plants; Increased energy efficiency by converting to compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs in all guest and public areas, installed motion sensors in public restrooms and back of house areas, and replaced office equipment and televisions with Energy Star models; and, Reduced waste by printing room collateral on recycled material, exchanging disposable items with compostable coffee cups and recycled to-go containers, and expanded recycled content paper goods to include toilet paper. All designated properties must also use green cleaners and high efficiency air filters.
